Forty Years of Quality Education
On June 1, 2006, SEDL officially turned 40. From 2006-2007, we celebrated our 40-year commitment to a quality education for all learners and honor our history of research, service, and professional development.
The Southwest Educational Development Laboratory (SEDL) was established in 1966 as one of 20 regional educational laboratories created by the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. The laboratories were part of a comprehensive strategy to improve education and educational opportunity for all students. They had a long-term mission of developing and disseminating research-based solutions to the most urgent education problems.
