Austin mayor Will Wynn issued a proclamation that designated June 2006 as “SEDL Appreciation Month” in recognition of 40 years of leadership and service to Austin and the national education community.
The proclamation text is below:
Be it known that
Whereas,
The Southwest Educational Development Laboratory (SEDL) is a national leader in education research, development and dissemination, which has been headquartered in Austin since its founding in 1966; and,
Whereas,
SEDL has contributed not only to the field of education, but also to Austin’s quality of life and economy by reaching thousands of teachers and administrators, creating hundreds of jobs, hosting numerous education conferences and building a downtown headquarters in 1972; and,
Whereas,
SEDL is continuing to model good corporate citizenship with the construction of its new headquarters at the former Robert Mueller airport site as an anchor tenant in a LEED-rated building;
Now, Therefore,
I, Will Wynn, Mayor of the City of Austin, Texas, do hereby recognize the organization’s 40 years of leadership and service and do hereby proclaim June, 2006 as SEDL Appreciation Month in Austin.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Austin to be affixed this 20th Day of June in the Year Two Thousand Six
--- Will Wynn, Mayor, City of Austin
