Mr. Arce is a retired school principal, most recently with Ortega Elementary School in the Austin Independent School District (AISD). He started his education career as a speech and language teacher in Kingsville, Texas. After moving to Austin in 1976, he worked at a number of schools in teaching and administrative positions before serving as the administrative supervisor for the AISD Professional Development Academy and later as the principal of Bryker Woods Elementary School. As an administrator he has practiced and promoted quality professional learning for faculties and staffs through his relationships with the National Staff Development Council and the Texas Staff Development Council.
Mr. Arce is an active member of community organizations and a supporter of school athletic, theater, and dance organizations. Throughout his career he has been committed to connecting the community and the school for the benefit of students. Mr. Arce received his bachelor's degree in speech and hearing therapy and elementary education and his master's degree in educational administration from Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
