Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education

Experience/Education
Ms. Johnson currently serves as a member of the Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE). In 1999, she was appointed by the governor of Louisiana to fill an unexpired term on the BESE. She then ran successfully for the seat and, during the next election, ran again without opposition. Ms. Johnson chairs the Louisiana High School Redesign Commission and serves on the Bring Back New Orleans Commission, the Louisiana Accountability Commission, the Louisiana Blue Ribbon Commission, and the Louisiana Reading Task Force.

Ms. Johnson holds a bachelor of science in microbiology from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
