Experience/Education

Mr. House is the chief operating officer of Charlotte-Mecklenberg Schools in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was previously the associate superintendent of elementary schools for Tulsa Public Schools in Oklahoma. Prior to that position, he was principal of KIPP Tulsa, a college-prep middle school that he founded. He has also served as an adjunct professor at Oral Roberts University and the University of Oklahoma. For his work as a K–8 principal, assistant principal, and teacher, Mr. House has been named an outstanding leader by Oklahoma Magazine and Ebony Magazine, and in 2002 was the Tulsa Area Association Black School Educator’s Outstanding Administrator of the Year and the Tulsa Public Schools Administrator of the Year. Mr. House also serves on the Tulsa Educare Board, the Oklahoma Center for Community and Justice (OCCJ) Board, and the Oklahoma Education Oversight Board.

Mr. House received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Montevallo in Alabama, and his master’s degree in school administration from Northeastern State University in Oklahoma. He was a Fisher Fellow in the Knowledge is Power Program (KIPP) at the Haas School of Business, University of California at Berkeley, and holds Oklahoma superintendent and principal (K–8) certifications.
