Experience/Education
Dr. Rosa María Vida is superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Laredo Diocese. Previously, she served as the dean of the College of Education and as an education professor at Texas A&M International University in Laredo. As part of the university’s faculty, Dr. Vida was instrumental in the development and the approval of four new graduate programs, including a collaborative doctorate degree with Texas A&M University in College Station. She also has held a variety of positions at Laredo State University, the Laredo Independent School District, and the Austin Independent School District. In addition, she served on SEDL’s Board of Directors, both as a member and as president, from 1998 to 2005.

Dr. Vida’s areas of interest include at-risk gifted students, gifted students in multicultural education, teacher accountability, and supervision and appraisal of teachers. Dr. Vida holds master’s degrees in elementary education from Texas A&I University in Laredo, and in administration from Laredo State University, and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from the University of Texas at Austin.
