Wesley A. Hoover
President and CEO

Wesley A. Hoover has served as SEDL's President and CEO since 1996. In this role, Dr. Hoover is responsible to the Board of Directors for the overall management and operation of SEDL. Prior to being named president, Dr. Hoover was a senior vice-president of the lab, leading the Eisenhower Southwest Consortium for the Improvement of Mathematics and Science Teaching (SCIMAST) and the Office of Institutional Assessment and Evaluation (OIAE). He joined SEDL in 1980 as a programmer/analyst in the Division of Bilingual and International Education, working on research in bilingual reading acquisition.

Lacy Wood
Director of Development

Lacy Wood is SEDL's Director of Development. She oversees SEDL's proposal planning and development activities, and she provides writing and editing support for SEDL.

Vicki Dimock
Chief Program Officer

Vicki Dimock is SEDL's Chief Program Officer. In this role, she oversees SEDL's core programmatic components, including the Research and Evaluation, Education Systems Support, Disability Research to Practice, and Afterschool, Family, and Community programs.

Melissa Dodson
Director of Evaluation

Melissa Dodson is Director of Evaluation with SEDL's Research and Evaluation (R&E) unit and Deputy Director of the Regional Educational Laboratory in the Southwest region. She provides overall leadership for SEDL’s evaluation research efforts, analytical technical support, and evaluation capacity building projects. Dr. Dodson has more than 15 years of experience designing and implementing large- and small-scale evaluation studies primarily in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, teacher effectiveness, and program replication. Dr. Dodson manages research staff across a variety of evaluation research contracts and grants and serves on the REL Southwest leadership team and SEDL Management Team.

Stuart Ferguson
Chief Financial Officer

Stuart Ferguson is SEDL's CFO. He is responsible for the oversight of SEDL's fiscal and technical accounting. Mr. Ferguson came to SEDL in 2009 from AT&T Wi-Fi Services (formerly Wayport, Inc.), where he worked as an accounting supervisor.

Beth Howard-Brown
Program Manager

Beth Howard-Brown is a Program Manager with SEDL's Education Systems Support program. Dr. Howard-Brown serves as director of the Southeast Comprehensive Center (SECC) at SEDL, which works to build the capacity of state education agencies as they assist schools and districts. Dr. Howard-Brown also oversees SEDL's partnership with the Regional Educational Laboratory Southeast at Florida State University. Prior to joining SEDL, she served as an interim director at the South Carolina Department of Education. Dr. Howard-Brown also has experience as a curriculum specialist working with low-performing schools, a graduate-level adjunct professor in counselor education, and as a high school and middle school administrator, a school counselor, and a mathematics teacher.

Dale Lewis
Program Manager

Dale Lewis is a Program Manager of SEDL's Education Systems Support program. Dr. Lewis serves as director of the Texas Comprehensive Center where he oversees projects in college and career readiness, school turnaround, educator effectiveness, and use of innovative approaches. Under fee-for-service contracts, he has worked with local education agencies to provide professional development and technical assistance in RtI implementation, the Concerns-Based Adoption Model, differentiated instruction, special education, and the Professional Teaching and Learning Cycle. Dr. Lewis also manages the Center for High-Performing Schools at SEDL, which partners with schools and districts to improve teaching, learning, and organizational cultures.

Acting Director of Institutional Communications

Jackie Burniske is SEDL's Acting Director of Communications. Within the Communications department, she leads a team of seven staff members in external and internal communications efforts that include public relations, marketing resources and services, production of publications, and Web development and design.

Michael Vaden-Kiernan
Director of Research and Evaluation

Michael Vaden-Kiernan is SEDL's Director of Research and Evaluation. Dr. Vaden-Kiernan has spent the majority of his professional career conducting research and evaluation studies with the U.S. Department of Education and U.S. Health and Human Services agencies. He was employed as a senior research analyst with Abt Associates for over 5 years and the CDM Group for more than 2 years in the areas of education, child development, and family studies.

John Westbrook
Program Manager

John Westbrook is Program Manager of SEDL's Disability Research to Practice program, which houses the Center on Knowledge Translation of Disability and Rehabilitation Research, the Knowledge Translation Center on Employment Research, and the Vocational Rehabilitation Service Models for Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Dr. Westbrook's current work includes conducting systematic reviews, research in effective knowledge translation strategies, and technical assistance.
