Sustainability Is More Than Fund-Raising
This session addresses what it takes beyond funding to sustain an afterschool program long term. Participants will create a vision for sustainability, learn how to build a network of partners, establish collaborative relationships with them, and build advocacy for their program. They will take away specific strategies that can help sustain their program.
Help at Hand: Resource Tools for Afterschool
There are many great resources and materials to help operate an effective afterschool program. SEDL's Resource Guide for Planning and Operating Afterschool Programs is used to highlight some of the best new materials available in management, communication, programming, integrating K-12, afterschool community building/collaboration, and evaluation. Participants have a chance to look over many of these exciting materials and receive a free copy of the updated Guide.
Accessing Supplemental Education Services Funds for Afterschool Programs
No Child Left Behind gives students in low-performing schools the option of receiving extra help in reading and mathematics. Funding is available, and afterschool programs are eligible to seek funds to provide these services. In this session, participants learn how to decide if they should apply, barriers they may experience, and what factors contribute to successful applications.
Finding Funding to Sustain Afterschool Programs
Locating funding to sustain your afterschool program can be a challenge. Participants in this session learn about federal and state funding opportunities and leveraging local resources. They swap creative ideas for funding with other providers and take away grant-writing tips.
Rich Rural Resources: Sustainability for the Ages
This session helps participants learn to use unique rural strengths to develop local resources that enhance community involvement and program visibility in ways that improve the sustainability of rural afterschool programs.
