Cancer and Employment Resources

In the United States, an estimated 1.5 million people are diagnosed annually with some type of cancer. Work is an important and stabilizing factor for cancer survivors, yet the unemployment rate for cancer survivors beyond the age of 18 is 33.8%, compared to 15.2% among a healthy international control population.

 

SEDL’s Knowledge Translation for Employment Research (KTER) Center is offering a free training webinar on cancer-related workplace issues and recent changes to the Americans with Disabilities Act. The webinar is appropriate for supervisors and other interested parties; it has been approved through the HR Certification Institute for 1 recertification credit hour toward PHR, SPHR, and GPHR recertification. KTER Center staff also coauthored a systematic review on interventions to facilitate employment outcomes for cancer survivors.
