Bridge Event: Aspirations for Rural Youth Webinar Aspirations of Rural Youth Webinar

Research suggests that a majority of youth in rural areas want to continue their education beyond high school. Yet rural students often have limited access to the advanced coursework, college and career counseling, and other programs that can help them transition into postsecondary education or the workforce. Join the Regional Educational Laboratory Southwest at SEDL for the Aspirations of Rural Youth Bridge Event Webinar. This free webinar will explore the challenges and successes that rural schools and communities experience in supporting students in the transition to college, careers, and adult life. The webinar takes place Thursday, October 3, 1:30–3 p.m. (CT). Learn more about the webinar and register on the REL Southwest website.

Vocational Rehabilitation Service Models for Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders

Through the Vocational Rehabilitation Service Models for Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) project, SEDL identified programs that were effective in helping people with ASD find and keep jobs. A new publication, Vocational Rehabilitation Service Models for Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders: Guide to Effective Employment Programs, outlines the results of the study and profiles the effective programs that were identified. The guide is a resource for individuals with ASD, their families, vocational rehabilitation professionals, and employment specialists. Readers can use the information to identify effective programs or to support quality improvement initiatives.
