Planning and Preparation

Before running a workshop, educators can familiarize themselves with the PicoCricket Kit and software by following the instructions in the Getting Started guide. The PicoCricket Web site includes ideas for organizing workshops and classes, assembling the materials, and setting up the space.

  • Software: The PicoCricket Programming software is included in the Kit, and works on both Mac and PC.
  • Computers: A computer is required in order to program the device. Internet access is desirable for viewing galleries and other materials from the Web site.

The PicoCricket Kit costs $250 per kit, and is available for purchase at the Web site. Each kit includes lights, motors, sensors, programming software, Lego bricks, craft materials, and eight project ideas with sample activities. All of the components, with the exception of the craft materials, are reusable.
