Teaching Experience

SAM animation is easy to use and intuitive. Very little content knowledge is required, though basic computer knowledge is helpful. The animations can be exported as simple QuickTime movies. Advanced editing is optional and could be accomplished by exporting the QuickTime movie to an application such as iMovie, where users can add additional effects and titles.

Planning and Preparation

Educators and program leaders should download and experiment with SAM animation first. It is easy to learn but educators will be more effective at facilitating the process with young people if they're familiar with the software.

  • Software: SAM Animation
  • Computers: Computer with an external USB webcam

This software is available for free at the Sam Animation Web site. Registration is required.
