Citation:Dodd, A. W., & Konzal, J. L. (1999). Making our high schools better: How parents and teachers can work together. Gordonsville, VA: St. MartinÕs Press. ED436859.

Annotation:
In this book, the authors suggest multiple strategies for involving parents of high school students in the areas of communication, parenting, academic assistance, volunteerism, decision making and advocacy, and community collaboration. The strategies were tested in two high schools that were the subjects in the authors' dissertation studies. A survey of parents, teachers, and students showed that parents wanted to be involved in their high school students' education, and teachers also wanted parents to be involved in the education of their high school students. So, the big question remains, Why isn't it happening? This book could be used to guide the creation and implementation of family involvement strategies for parents of high school students.
