Regional Comprehensive Centers
SEDL works through two regional comprehensive centers (CCs) to assist state educators in building their capacity to help schools and districts meet ELL needs. Select the links below to see a list of each CC's specific services.
- Southeast Comprehensive Center (SECC): serves state and local educators in Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and South Carolina
- Texas Comprehensive Center (TXCC): serves the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and the 20 regional education service centers (ESCs) in Texas
Professional Development
SEDL’s Center for Professional Learning offers training tailored to meet your specific needs. The courses are available in many formats (e.g., face-to-face, online), grounded in research, and designed with practical use in mind.
- Beyond ELL: Addressing Language-Based Problems in Mathematics Instruction: Designed for ELL supervisors and middle school math teachers, this course focuses on inadvertent and often undetected problems in mathematics instruction caused by inattention to the role of language, representation, and symbolism. These practices affect all students, but particularly English language learners.
