Services
SEDL provides technical assistance, professional development, research and evaluation, and resources to assist educators in turning around underachieving schools. We build the capacities of state and regional educators to help them assess specific needs for improvement, develop and implement plans to address those needs, support school improvement efforts, identify and provide research-based materials and strategies that assist in improvement, and evaluate the outcomes for accountability purposes.
Regional Comprehensive Centers
SEDL works through two regional comprehensive centers (CCs) to assist state and district educators with meeting the challenges of underachieving schools. Select the links below to see a list of each CC's specific services.
- Southeast Comprehensive Center (SECC): serves state and local educators in Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and South Carolina
- Texas Comprehensive Center (TXCC): serves the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and the 20 regional education service centers (ESCs) in Texas
Professional Development
SEDL’s Center for Professional Learning offers training tailored to meet your specific needs. The courses are available in various formats (e.g., face-to-face, online), grounded in research, and designed with practical use in mind.
- The Professional Teaching and Learning Cycle (PTLC): The PTLC is a model for engaging teachers in a continuous improvement process in which they collaboratively align curriculum, instruction, and assessments to state standards.
- Professional Learning Communities (PLC) Academy: Offers three sessions on building effective PLCs: (1) Demystifying PLCs and Creating Shared Visions and Values; (2) Creating Shared Leadership and Application of Learning; and (3) Developing Supportive Conditions and Sharing Professional Practice.
