What It Is

Technology has become such an integral part of our everyday lives that the term itself almost seems archaic. We’re no longer talking simply about computers. Technology today encompasses much more than that—computers, cell phones, MP3 players, digital cameras, and so forth and so on. Technology continues to advance at a rapid rate, and our educational system must keep pace with it.

Why It Matters

Today’s students have to know how to use technology. In fact, today’s students should know how to manipulate and develop technology as well. It’s not just teachers who need to understand technology, however. Educators must be able to evaluate, acquire, and manage the technologies that support school improvement efforts and NCLB requirements.

What We Do

SEDL provides technical assistance and professional development to educators seeking to incorporate technology into their teaching. Our work with afterschool practitioners helps them combine learning with fun activities that engage students using technology.
