This service of Standard and Poor provides a wealth of information on student performance, school environment, and more at the state, district, and school level. It allows users to create customized and downloadable data reports, and it includes specific resources for parents, educators, and district and state leaders.

TEA’s Academic Excellence Indicator System
This portion of the Texas Education Agency Web site provides reports about school performance from 1991-2004. Information is available at the campus, district, and grade level for mathematics, science, and other content areas. It includes data on ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and English proficiency.

TEA Science Curriculum Web page
This resource area on the Texas Education Agency’s Web site links to information on curriculum, assessment, rules, and other science related issues. It also links to conference presentations by TEA staff, which provide in-depth analysis of student performance in science.

Characteristics of At-Risk Students in National Education Longitudinal Study of 1988
This report from the National Center for Education Statistics reveals that many factors were found to predic t at-risk status of students independent of gender, race-ethnicity, and socioeconomic background (e.g., low achievement test scores).

Differences in Performance by Selected Student Characteristic
This section of the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2003 Summary compares U.S. students to the those in other countries by gender, socioeconomic status, and race/ethnicity.

Examining Gaps in Mathematics Achievement Among Racial-Ethnic Groups, 1972-1992
This publication from Rand Education examines trends in the mathematics scores of different racial-ethnic groups over time and analyzes how changes in family, school, and schooling measures help explain changes in test score gaps. The entire document or summary may be downloaded.

National Association of Elementary School Principals: Statistics/Research
This page of the NAESP Web site is includes data of concern to elementary and middle school administrators, such as salary surveys, trends in education, and links to recent polls and reports. Of particular note is the 2004 Trends in Education report from Principal Magazine.
