New Orleans mayor Ray Nagin has appointed SEDL board member Brenda Garibaldi Hatfield chief administrative officer (CAO). The position is the top appointive job in New Orleans' city government. AS CAO, Hatifield will oversee the city budget and numerous city departments and services.
Hatifield is a New Orleans native, a former teacher and librarian. She earned a Ph.D. in education from Louisiana State University. She served as director of governmental affairs at Cox Communications for nine years and most recently has served as executive assistant to Nagin and director of intergovernmental affairs for the city.
