PRIORITY AREAS
  • To revise the request for proposals for LaSIP professional development program which gives building professional communities a larger role in the design of the projects.
ACTION STEPS
  • Convene a planning meeting.
  • Discuss the role of professional learning communities in professional development projects.
  • Revise the RFP.
  • Work with teacher quality advisory group to infuse new ideas into the state's overall plan.

 

Project Commitment: Systemic Alignment

PRIORITY AREAS
  • Develop a systemic plan to bring together and coordinate agencies & programs that design/oversee teacher quality initiatives in Louisiana.
ACTION STEPS
  • Convene an advisory group.
  • Discuss initiatives emanating from LaSIP, Department of Education, Board of Regents, and Governor's Office and discuss how these programs can complement each other.
  • Develop a comprehensive view of the components of teacher quality initiatives currently in existence in Louisiana.
  • Develop a strategic plan which examines programs currently in place, continuing needs, and strategies for future actions.

 

Project Commitment: Tracking Student Performance

PRIORITY AREAS
  • Develop a results brochure to highlight school/district student achievement.
ACTION STEPS
  • Begin to identify schools/districts that should be highlighted.
  • Decide on the format of the brochure.
  • Meet with consultant to design the brochure.
  • Interview teachers/administrators in identified schools/districts to develop a profile.
