Georgina K. Gonzalez
Program Associate
Georgina Gonzalez is a Program Associate with SEDL's Improving School Performance program. Ms. Gonzalez works with the Texas and Southeast Comprehensive Centers to lead activities in the area of English language learners (ELLs) and Title III of the No Child Left Behind Act. She also participates in the development and implementation of new streams of revenue related to improving instruction for ELLs.

Ms. Gonzalez’s interests include bilingual and English as a second language (ESL) programs, ELL policies, English language proficiency standards, formative and summative student assessments, research dissemination as it applies to ELLs, and research implementation.
- English Language Learners: Ms. Gonzalez has more than 20 years of experience in the United States and internationally teaching ELLs and providing them with bilingual/ESL education.
- Assessment: Ms. Gonzalez has more than 10 years of experience collaborating with the Assessment Division of the Texas Education Agency to help staff develop the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) in Spanish and the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) for ELLs.
Ms. Gonzalez joined SEDL in November 2009. From 1999 to 2009, she was the bilingual/ESL assistant director and then director at the Texas Education Agency. Previously, she served as a consultant in bilingual/ESL and Languages Other than English (LOTE) to the Texas regional Education Service Center XIII. In addition, she has 4 years of experience as a bilingual preK and kindergarten teacher in the Austin Independent School District. Education
Ms. Gonzalez holds a BA in Spanish and Christian education from Houghton College in Houghton, New York, and an MA in Christian ministries from Wheaton Graduate School in Wheaton, Illinois. She also received a PK–6 Elementary Self-Contained and Bilingual/ESL Teacher Certification while attending the University of Texas at Edinburg. Selected Presentations
