Jim Kunetka is a Senior Development Advisor with SEDL's Executive Office, where he is responsible for philanthropic marketing and leading the institution’s foundation development and fundraising program.

Mr. Kunetka has more than 25 years of experience in education-related fundraising and communications, including management; federal, state, and foundation development; donor, event, and capital campaign fundraising; and marketing and branding for educational institutions. Experience
Prior to rejoining SEDL in 2009, Mr. Kunetka worked for 12 years in the University of Texas at Austin’s fundraising department, where he held various management positions, including serving as Associate Vice President. From 1969 to 1984, Mr. Kunetka worked at SEDL as the Development and Communications Coordinator/Director. In addition, he has served as a fundraising consultant to nonprofits and Texas municipal governments, and as a historical consultant to the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory/U.S. Department of Energy. Mr. Kunetka is also a bestselling author and has written two nonfiction books, four novels, book chapter contributions in contemporary American history, book reviews, and numerous magazine and newspaper articles.
