Jesse L. Mabus
Information Specialist
Jesse Mabus is an Information Specialist with SEDL's Education Systems Support (ESS) program. Mr. Mabus conducts information and resource searches for the Texas Comprehensive Center (TXCC) and the Southeast Comprehensive Center (SECC), and assists in the maintenance of a database of resources available to the comprehensive and content centers. Other duties include providing technical assistance for the production of online training materials, including professional development sessions and webinars for the TXCC. Mr. Mabus has also provided assistance on several Rapid Response requests for the Texas Education Agency on behalf of the TXCC. Previously, he maintained a literature database and Web site for the Center for Comprehensive School Reform and Improvement.

Mr. Mabus’s research interests include library science, Irish studies, folklore, anthropology, and film.
- Library Science: Mr. Mabus has 10 years of experience providing information services in academic and public libraries. He has served as the head of Reference Services and Circulation, including providing all interlibrary loan services, for Clatsop Community College in Oregon. His experience includes work in reference, circulation, interlibrary loans, government documents, and periodicals.
- Technology: Mr. Mabus has experience in the design and maintenance of public Web sites and databases, film production and editing, and the development of online professional development materials.
Prior to joining SEDL in 2008, Mr. Mabus worked in academic libraries in Washington and Oregon, providing support in reference, circulation, interlibrary loans, and government documents. This work included serving as an interim head of Reference Services at the Evergreen State College Library. He has also contributed guest lectures in folklore, Irish studies, and religious studies at community colleges in Oregon and Texas. In addition, Mr. Mabus has maintained Web sites for private and public concerns, and has experience in print design and layout and film, video, and television production. Education
Mr. Mabus holds a BA in liberal arts from Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, and has completed coursework toward an MA in folklore at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon. He also has design certificates in permaculture, focusing on urban agriculture and market gardening. SEDL Publications
