Shaila Abdullah
Shaila Abdullah is a Media Design Associate with SEDL's Communications department. She works with program staff to design and develop new Web, print, and multimedia resources and also consults with and mentors staff in the development of such products. She also ensures that layout and content uphold SEDL's corporate image and meet Web standards and provides art direction to internal and external artists. Ms. Abdullah also designs the SEDL catalogs and annual reports. She has designed numerous SEDL Web sites such as the Corporate Web site, National Center for Family and Community Connections with Schools (EdPress Award 2004 Finalist), Evaluation Services, National Partnership for Quality Afterschool Learning, and resources sites for publications including the SEDL Letter.

Experience/Education
Prior to joining SEDL in February 2002, Ms. Abdullah worked as a Lead Designer for IBT Technologies where she developed online courses and offered art direction to other artists. Since the start of her design career in 1993, she has had the opportunity to explore various advertising, communications and desktop publishing avenues, successfully in teams and as sole manager of projects, involving creative, conceptual, and communications skills.
Ms. Abdullah holds a bachelor's degree with a four-year diploma in graphic design. She also holds a diploma in freelance writing and has written articles and short stories for a variety of South Asian and U.S. media. Ms. Abdullah wrote a collection of short stories titled Beyond the Cayenne Wall in 2005 that received much acclaim.
