Rapid Response: Adult Education Certification Requirements and Electives for Teachers

A state department of education served by the Southeast Comprehensive Center asked what do other states require for adult education add-on certification for teachers, specifically credit requirements (required and electives), with a focus on reading credit requirements? In response to this request, SECC staff queried a number of education research and dissemination organizations to obtain information on adult education certification requirements and electives. They also conducted searches of state department of education Web sites and contacted individuals at specific state departments to obtain information. Details are provided including search results and a list of references that may provide additional information.
