Field Staff Activities
SEDL Field Staff have the opportunity to assist research and evaluation project activities related to data collection for large-scale multi-year rigorous research projects of widely used reading and math curricula in elementary schools funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences. As a SEDL Field Staff you will work closely and in a highly collegial atmosphere with a team of SEDL’s R&E staff members in the following types of activities:
- Assist in the collection of data for large-scale randomized controlled trial studies of reading and math curricula, including conducting classroom observations and group administered assessments and surveys.
- Provide assistance in tracking the collection of group reading/math assessments and surveys.
- Assist in implementation of site visit data collection plans at selected schools
- Assist in entering qualitative and quantitative data related to the studies.

SEDL Field Staff Requirements and Preferences
Required:
You must 1) be available to travel out-of-town for data collection for up to 5 days at a time, 2) be willing to commit to a flexible work schedule of approximately 20-40 hours per week, 3) have a valid U.S. driver’s license, and 4) demonstrate ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Preferred:
Preference is given to individuals with 1) experience or background in large-scale data collection efforts (i.e., conducting classroom observations, and teacher interviews); 2) experience or background conducting student assessments; and 3) experience or background in the area of early elementary reading or math.
Compensation
SEDL Field Staff receive an hourly wage of $20.00. SEDL will cover all travel expenses in accordance with institutional guidelines. This position will begin mid-March and end sometime in May. You will be asked to complete a criminal history background check and may be asked to participate in drug and alcohol screening during the hiring process.
