We Broke New Ground
After 40 years in downtown Austin, the Southwest Educational Development Laboratory (SEDL) broke new ground in the Robert Mueller Municipal Airport community redevelopment site. The groundbreaking ceremony was held at 4700 Mueller Blvd., on Wednesday, August 2, 2006, at 9 a.m. View details.
Highlights
SEDL’s new headquarters features
- approximately 50,000 square feet, will be host to research and development efforts in addressing some of the nation’s most pressing education issues.
- community spaces, workrooms, and offices
- a science and technology demonstration classroom
- 5,200 square feet of conference space including 8 break-out rooms
- an education research library
- a silver-level Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.

The Mueller Community
SEDL is joining others who plan to call Mueller home, including the Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas and the Dell Pediatric Research Institute of the University of Texas. Benz Resource Group serves as the project manager for the new facility. Raymond Construction is under contract for the construction. Oxford Commercial served as the real estate brokers on the land purchase.

We will celebrate our 40th anniversary with three events: the groundbreaking ceremony on August 2, 2006, an anniversary breakfast on November 3, 2006, and a grand opening reception on April 10, 2008. See the 40th anniversary calendar for details.

Coming from the north or south on IH 35:
Take Airport exit going east.
At the first set of lights, take a left.
Go around the traffic circle and proceed along Mueller Blvd to the SEDL building.
