Lessons
Join us as the teachers on board the New
Horizon develop exciting new lessons for students of all ages! Lessons
include topics like algae growth, properties of water, technology in
science, muscle memory, migration, nutrient recycling, and many more!
Teachers on board the R/V New Horizon will post one lesson per day (Monday-Friday)
to this page. All lessons will include student guides, teacher notes,
simple suggested hands-on activities, and other resources to bring emerging
research into your classroom to help teachers use reform teaching practices.
All lessons are aligned to the national and state science standards from
the southwest region. About half of the lessons are appropriate for any
grade level (K-8) and are designed for integrated sciences. The remaining
lessons are discipline based and appropriate for 6-12, including AP courses.
Interesting lessons will be developed from ideas submitted by the student
and school e-mail submissions. Check this page daily…you will find
exciting lessons for your students as they come off the ship!
