Regional Institute 2013

The Southeast Comprehensive Center (SECC) and the Texas Comprehensive Center at SEDL are hosting a regional institute, Supporting Sustainability Efforts in School Turnaround, in Raleigh, North Carolina, November 6-7, 2013. This meeting is by invitation only for educators at the state level who are engaged in School Improvement Grants and school turnaround work. Each state has been invited to send five participants to the institute.

The purpose of this institute is to provide the opportunity for state educators working in school turnaround to network with their counterparts from other states, engage in conversations with experts in the field, and meet with nationally recognized educators and researchers on critical topics related to this work that were identified by participating states.

Outcomes

  • Increase understanding of initiatives and practices for supporting, monitoring, evaluating, and sustaining school turnaround efforts
  • Enhance knowledge regarding recruiting and maintaining turnaround leaders, building local education agency capacity, implementing extended learning time, and creating healthy learning environments
  • Engage with national experts around state-specific turnaround issues and network with other professionals whose work involves issues relating to supporting and sustaining school turnaround
