MDE College- and Career-Readiness Standards Scaffolding Documents


SECC will provide technical assistance to MDE in the editorial review of the mathematics and English language arts college- and career-readiness (CCR) standards scaffolding documents. The document review will focus on consistency in formatting, use of technical language, and grammatical structure.

2015

November

SECC staff have completed review of the ELA kindergarten files and sent a link to the folder to the client. The ELA files for Grades 1–5 are in final approval. The files for Grades 6 and 8 are being edited and prepared for approval. SECC send links to the file folders to the client upon completion of the quality assurance process.

October

SECC staff completed the review of the remaining mathematics files (Algebra II and Geometry) and have sent the client links to the file folders. SECC is finalizing the review of the English language arts documents for Grades K–5 and will send links to the file folders upon completion of the quality assurance process.

September

The mathematics documents, Compacted Grade 8 and Grades 9–12 (Algebra II and Geometry),  are being finalized and will be submitted to MDE shortly. The English kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 2 documents are in the final stage of review. 

August

The mathematics documents, Compacted Grade 8 and Grades 9–12 (Algebra II and Geometry),  have been reviewed and will be submitted to MDE shortly. The English kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 2 documents are currently in the final stage of review. 

July

The following documents are in the final review stage: mathematics Compacted Grade 8 and Grades 9–12 (Algebra II and Geometry) as well as English kindergarten and Grade 1. The reviewed documents for Algebra I have been sent to MDE. In addition, SECC staff have begun work on the English scaffolding documents for Grade 2.

May

SECC staff have completed editing the remaining mathematics documents for Compacted Grade 8 and Grades 9–12 (Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry), which are in the final review stage. Upon approval, staff will forward the documents to MDE. SECC staff also began work on the English scaffolding documents for kindergarten.

April

SECC staff are currently editing the remaining math documents for Compacted Grade 8 and Grades 9–12 (Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry). This review is scheduled for completion in May.

March

In March, SECC staff completed editorial review of 15 mathematics documents for Grade 3, Compacted Grade 7, and Grade 8, which were sent to staff at the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE). The staff also forwarded to MDE a publication, State Definitions of College and Career Readiness, from the College & Career Readiness & Success Center. SECC staff are currently editing the remaining math documents for Compacted Grade 8 and Grades 9–12, which are scheduled for completion in May.

February

In February, SECC staff completed editorial review of five mathematics documents for Grade 5, which were forwarded to MDE. Editorial review of documents for Grades 3, 6, 7, and 8 is underway and scheduled for completion in March.

January

In January, SECC staff completed editorial review of 11 mathematics documents for third and fourth grade. These documents were reviewed for formatting, use of technical language, and grammatical structure. The files will be forwarded to MDE upon approval. Editorial review of the next round of math documents is underway and is scheduled to be completed in February.

2014

December

In December 2014, SECC staff completed editorial review of 10 mathematics documents for third and fourth grade. These documents will be sent to MDE upon approval. In addition, editorial review is underway of the next round of math documents for fifth and sixth grade.

November

On December 1, SECC staff completed editorial review of the first 13 mathematics documents for kindergarten, first grade, and second grade. These documents were reviewed for formatting, use of technical language, and grammatical structure and forwarded to MDE upon completion. Editorial review of the next round of math documents is underway and is scheduled to be completed by the end of December.
