Support for Implementing Alabama’s College and Career Readiness Standards

The SECC will work with all Alabama to strengthen their plans for implementing the Alabama College and Career Standards by ensuring that they are

  1. identifying and providing to districts and schools high-quality resources that are supported by research-based and emerging promising practices,
  2. collecting feedback from districts, schools, and teachers to determine the quality, usefulness and relevance of the resources and supports they are providing, and
  3. adjusting and refining their implementation plans and resources to address identified needs or concerns.

This project is in the following state: Alabama.

2015


April

SECC’s liaison for the Center on College and Career Readiness and Success (CCRSC) conferred with CCRSC staff about college and career readiness work in all SECC states, but placed emphasis on collaboration with Alabama through the state’s SECC liaison who requested the information for the state regarding CCR metrics used by other states. The CCRSC has provided some relative information for Alabama’s use.


2013


February

SECC continues to support Alabama's College- and Career- Readiness standards implementation for mathematics with videos. Videos to support English/language arts implementation will be available on the SECC website soon.


January

In January 2013, SECC program associates and Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) staff collaborated to identify areas of need for Alabama's College and Career Ready Standards (CCRS) implementation. ALSDE staff members are currently reviewing dates for a face-to-face meeting with SECC program associates. SECC continues to support Alabama's CCRS implementation for mathematics with videos, and videos to support Alabama's implementation for English/language arts (ELA) will be live soon.
